You want to be exciting and adventurous, but at no lifestyle cost to you So you collect exotic surrogates like animals in the zoo Get every flavour of humanity the mainstream media feeds to you But never follow down the rabbit hole... They're just animals in the zoo. Something interesting to view But with a wall between them and you 'Cause you don't know what they might do They're just animals in the zoo. Something interesting to view But with a wall between them and you Because you fear what they might do They're just animals in the zoo. Collect a friend from every culture, condition, class and sexuality But never in your inner circle, and no-where near your family They're so cute when they act like people With all the funny things they say and do And look at you, so noble, kind and caring for the animals in the zoo. Something interesting to view But with a wall between them and you 'Cause you don't know what they might do They're just animals in the zoo. Something interesting to view But with a wall between them and you Because you fear what they might do They're just animals in the zoo. Patronise and smile politely Hold forth on things you barely understand You're really free and open minded, so long as nobody makes demands. Let others suffer for identity, so you'll never have to Then seize the flag of victory from the animals in the zoo. . Something interesting to view But with a wall between them and you 'Cause you don't know what they might do They're just animals in the zoo. Something interesting to view But with a wall between them and you Because you fear what they might do They're just animals in the zoo.

Ugly Doris 04:24
Way down deep beneath the sea Is where you'll find the folk like me I've got a glowing bud and a gurning smile And more teeth than a crocodile Around the warm volcanic jets Life's as precious as it gets Here you don't need no disguise 'Cause we ain't seen by judging eyes If you don't like us, you can go to hell We deal with pressure really well It may be dark and it may be cold But it ain't never old Way on down, out of sight Making culture in the night We don't need your approval to make us feel alright. Imagine my surprise one night When I was hit by a blinding light And there, in a shiny chrome tin can Was a hairy deep sea diver man He stopped and stared, then by and by He rose on up into the sky A few days later back he sank To shut me in a little tank If you don't like us, you can go to hell We deal with pressure really well It may be dark and it may be cold But it ain't never old Way on down, out of sight Making culture in the night We don't need your approval to make us feel alright. I don't know how much time has passed But now I'm looking through a wall of glass At a bunch of passing gawping creeps And the sign reads "Nightmares of the Deep". In other tanks around the room Are all my buddies in the gloom Freaks and weirdos on display And I'm "Ugly Doris". How's your day? If you don't like us, you can go to hell We deal with pressure really well It may be dark and it may be cold But it ain't never old Way on down, out of sight Making culture in the night We don't need your approval to make us feel alright.

Saint Virtue 02:35
Through rain and snow she'll be there She doesn't mind humiliation The more she has to go through The greater her claim to martyrdom Passers-by taunting her brimstone oration Saint Virtue stands alone With a book in her hand and a voice in her head She knows she must warn the people Of the fate that awaits them After they're dead. Not through sympathy Not through empathy Not through sisterly concern Does she spend her days Shouting at people to change their ways She's righteous Every religion begins with persecution Deep down she longs for the ridicule That helps her stake her claim to holiness She's not a cult, she's a messenger Saint Virtue stands alone With a book in her hand and a voice in her head She keeps herself going smiling over The fate that awaits them After they're dead.

You know everybody's motivation So much better than you know your own Preaching from a pedestal of Common Sense The only sense that you've ever known You know all about psychology Because you watched Derren Brown and flipped a magazine Now you think that you're better than everyone You're such a great judge of character You know me so well All that smug condescension can't be good for your health You think you've seen through the way I present But I'm not trying to be convincing I just want to be myself. If you want to fight for the side that's right You might not like what you see when you shine that light Because the truth hurts, the truth hurts. Beating out self-righteous words Ought to be careful where you wave that sword Weave yourself a blanket to keep out the cold Because the truth hurts the teller As well as the told. No truth is self-evident Whether by reason or religious zeal You're just looking for a dragon to fight Don't you just love the way that it feels? It's a Highlander mentality "There can be only one! You should all listen to me!" But you're really no different from anyone. Maybe you're wrong, maybe you're right You might not even know for sure when the end's in sight Before you go marching on another crusade Try not to think about the mess That your hero complex has made. If you want to fight for the side that's right You might not like what you see when you shine that light Because the truth hurts Don't you know that the truth hurts. Beating out self-righteous words Ought to be careful where you point that sword Weave yourself a blanket to keep out the cold Because the truth hurts the teller As well as the told Go forth and raise a mighty army Such a mighty army Such a huge army You're gonna raise a mighty army Such a mighty army You and whose army? If you want to fight for the side that's right You might not like what you see when you shine that light Weave yourself a blanket to keep out the cold The truth hurts the teller as well as the told Beating out self-righteous words Ought to be careful where you stick that sword Weave yourself a blanket to keep out the cold The truth hurts the teller as well as the told If you want to fight for the side that's right You might not like what you see when you shine that light Weave yourself a blanket to keep out the cold The truth hurts the teller as well as the told Beating out self-righteous words Ought to be careful where you poke that sword Weave yourself a blanket to keep out the cold The truth hurts the teller as well as the told Go forth and raise a mighty army Such a mighty army Such a huge army You're gonna raise a mighty army Such a mighty army You and whose army?

When eight days have passed our rest is no more The war calls us back to the trench Our prescence is desperately needed Without us all would be defeated But enough of this war, we can't take any more We don't want to march one more inch With sadness inside and tears in our eyes We must bid fond adieu to civilian life No trumpets, no drums Just feelings of dread We must get up and go Without losing our heads Farewell to life Farewell to love Farewell to you ladies all Now it's all over Finished, no more All is lost to this terrible war On the plateau at Craonne There in the mud We must all pay with blood For we are condemned Giving as sacrifice Eight days in the trench Eight days of suffering Still there is hope in our fear That armistice might come tonight Even as we stand waiting to fight Then through the darkness, a figure approaches The men salute as he draws near It's an infantry officer come to replace The soldiers who go to look death in the face In the night the rain lashes in waves The rifles are marching to their early graves Farewell to life Farewell to love Farewell to you ladies all Now it's all over Finished, no more All is lost to this terrible war On the plateau at Craonne There in the mud We must all pay with blood For we are condemned Giving as sacrifice It's sad to think in the city's grand streets The rich drink and party and lunch La Vie en Rose they are living While all that we have are misgivings Instead of partying all of you shirkers Should make your way down to the trench Protect your own property, for we have none We are the poor For us all joy is gone Our comrades are buried face down in the mud For the money and possessions of the great and the good Those with the coin get to go home again It's for them that the rest of us fall But no longer! Les troufions will go out on strike We will not die for you anymore Now it's your turn, all you great and the good To crawl in the trenches and die in the mud If you must make war pay for it with your own blood If you must make war pay for it with your own blood If you must make war pay for it with your own blood.
